Professor Charles Swainson is an independent healthcare management consultant working across the NHS and public sectors. He holds a number of roles including clinical lead on E-Health to the Scottish Government, focusing on safer use of medicines, the Honorary Treasurer of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and medical director and vice chair of the Scottish Advisory Committee on Distinction Awards.
He has considerable experience coaching senior teams in NHS Trusts.
He is an honorary Professor in the University of Edinburgh and the current convener of the Business Committee for the University of Edinburgh General Council, representing the interests of graduates in the University.
He is an elected Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the UK Faculty of Public Health Medicine, and a member of the Founding Council of the new Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.

Professor Ian Kunkler

Professor Ian Kunkler is Consultant and Honorary Professor in Clinical Oncology at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre, University of Edinburgh. He qualified in Medicine at Cambridge University and St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. After junior posts in General Medicine at the Nottingham City Hospital, he trained in radiotherapy and oncology at the Western General Hospital, University of Edinburgh. He spent a year in Paris at Institut Gustave Roussy in the Department of Radiation Oncology under the direction of Professor Daniel Chassagne and Dr Alain Gerbaulet. He was appointed Consultant in Clinical Oncology in Sheffield in 1988 and specialised in the treatment of brain tumours, lymphomas, head and neck and breast cancer. He returned to Edinburgh in 1992 where he has been a senior specialist in breast clinical oncology.
His clinical and research interests are in clinical trials of adjuvant radiotherapy, breast cancer in the elderly, image guided radiotherapy and the application of telemedicine in the delivery of breast cancer services.
Professor Kunkler lectures internationally on breast radiation oncology including the St Gallen International Consensus Conference on the primary therapy of breast cancer. He is Chief Investigator of the MRC BIG 2-04 SUPREMO Trial of postmastectomy radiotherapy in intermediate risk breast cancer and the PRIME 2 trial evaluating postoperative radiotherapy in low risk older patients after breast conserving surgery. He was co-Principal Investigator of the METOXIA (2009-14), 22 partner European Commission funded consortium on translating the hypoxic tumour microenvironment.
He is co- Principal investigator of a 5 year EPSRC programme grant (2014-2018) to develop real time biosensors of cancer biology (Implantable Microsystems for anti-cancer treatment (IMPACT), a collaboration between engineering, chemistry and human and veterinary oncology.
He was President of the British Oncological Association from 2000-2 and has published over peer reviewed 100 publications. He has edited two editions of Walter and Miller's Textbook of radiotherapy.
He is a member of the Quality Assurance group on radiation oncology of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and is a member of the RARECARE project on rare cancers funded by the European Commission.

Professor Victor Lopes
Professor Victor Lopes is a reputable and enthusiastic academic oncology surgeon in the NHS. He held a senior management role as Associate Medical Director for five years and has an intimate understanding of what it takes to transform the NHS to enable sustainability and a path for innovation.
He has held the position of clinical lead for innovation for the NHS in Edinburgh where he gained unique and extensive experience of how best to enable integration of innovation in to healthcare. Pirooz has over 30 years of experience in the high-tech sector. He joined Maxim Integrated in 1987 when it was a pre-IPO company. During his 27 year tenure at Maxim, he has played a key role in Maxim’s growth to a $2.4B/yr. company. As Group President, he has led new product development activities, and has had P&L responsibility for a number of Business Units whose aggregate revenues were approximately $800M/yr.
He led the creation of Maxim’s Automotive Business Unit from the ground up. This business unit has grown to have revenues well in excess of $100M/yr.
He became Maxim’s first CTO in 2011. As CTO he championed innovation, and led advanced technology development organizations that provided foundational technologies for many of Maxim’s products. He also led Maxim Labs which is chartered with developing disruptive technologies that have a 3+ year time horizon.
In early 2015, he moved on from Maxim to pursue new professional challenges. He currently serves in senior advisory and consulting roles in a broad range of technologies such as Roche’s DNA sequencing unit, and multiple startups in the semiconductor, software and systems areas. He is also an angel investor in 10’s of start-ups.
He has been active in the IEEE where he has served in the Technology Directions sub-committee of ISSCC for the past several years. He is well versed in the areas of technology, strategy, growing and running businesses and the management of highly diverse disciplines.

Whilst in Cambridge, Claudia has developed a strong interest in entrepreneurship and in 2015 she co-founded the Strategic IP Forum in collaboration with the Centre for Technology Management at the University of Cambridge.
